Signing your union membership card means you’ll get to vote on our contract, vote in union elections, and have a say in how our union works. Dues (1.5%) are our collective resources. Pitt has literal billions of dollars, so we need to pool our resources to level the playing field. We don’t pay a cent of dues until after we vote to ratify our contract. There is no initiation fee because we’re a new bargaining unit.
